Mark Braidner Trio (aka The Blues Street Preachers) feature Mark “Bee-sting” Braidner on acoustic and resonator guitars, Simon Templeton on piano, Bill Johnston on bass and Rik Gay on drums. Very popular on the blues festival circuit they recreate the pre-war blues sounds of the 1920s and 30s American south. Their influences range from piano/guitar pairings such as Scrapper Blackwell and Leroy Carr, Lonnie Johnson and Eddie Lang the ragtime and hokum styles of Blind Blake and Casey Bill Weldon through to the delta blues of Robert Johnson and Skip James. Mark plays as if he has just stepped off a Mississippi steamboat. Gerry McClurg joins the front line with his energetic virtuoso trumpet. Superb foot-tapping stuff!
