SD Bell's Coffee House and Tea Rooms
Riding on the success of his “Hip Operation”, and “Septicaemia” seven piece, Nigel Mooney presents a tribute to the late Grant Green to mark his 80th Birthday, with very special guest, the legendary Jim Mullen. Glasgow-born Mullen is a multi-award winning guitarist with a unique jazz style and sound, regarded by many as the high priest of the instrument and widely recognised as the UK’s top-performing jazz guitarist. Like Wes Montgomery before him, picking with thumb rather than plectrum, Mullen first played with Pete Brown & Piblokto!, and then with Brian Auger's Oblivion Express, and Kokomo before touring with the Average White Band. Twice Winner of “Best Guitar” in the BT Jazz Awards, “Best Guitar” in the Post Office Jazz Awards 2000 and winner of “Best Guitar” in the Hamlet Cigar British Jazz Awards 2002. He concludes this Irish visit with only one gig north of the border, at SD Bell’s. He will major on Grant Green’s funky Blue Note sound through the classic three ‘great guitar’ frontline format of Mullan, Mooney and Hugh Buckley, plus Scott Flanigan (organ) and Dominic Mullan (drums). This is another “DO NOT MISS” gig!! Book NOW!
