We are thrilled to add to our family of exotic teas this remarkable tea from China. Da Hong Pao (“Big red robe”) is technically an Oolong tea, so mid-way between Green and Black, but which has been roasted in an oven, to give a rich, oaky aroma in the leaf, but a sweet and delicate taste when brewed, quite briefly, in boiling water. The liquor brews to a rich amber colour, and develops a smooth sweet, refreshing flavour.
This is a very exclusive tea, and although it is at the higher end of the cost scale, it can be used very economically. Just put a large pinch in the cup, let it infuse and settle, and enjoy!
