Our Darjeeling is of the highest quality, the champagne of teas!
The Darjeeling region of West Bengal, in the foothills of the Himalayas neighbouring Nepal and Bhutan, was first planted back in the 1850’s, with tea plants taken exclusively from China, the Camellia Sinensis. Since that time and until today, Darjeeling Tea has been a PDO, Product of Denominated Origin, such that for it to be labelled ‘Darjeeling’, it can only be grown in that region, and from the original ‘china leaf’. Darjeeling tastes like a Chinese tea because…it is! In fact the very sacks that it is exported in must also state “Made in India (China)” !
This choice is one of the best of its type, a wonderful second-flush FTGFOP1 tea. (Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe – Class 1).
It is made from high-quality, uncrushed leaves giving it a delicious light and gentle flavour, a perfect afternoon tea, generally drunk without milk.
